FEATURED STORY:
JIL TANAUAN HISTORY
Looking Back
Everything started with a small group bible study in the year 1987. Sis. Beth Piamonte, an attendee from JIL Caloocan invited Tatay Piring to minister some devotees in Brgy. Mabini, Tanauan, Batangas. Meanwhile, Ptr. Jess Burgos, from Brgy. Wawa who came to know the Lord at Araullo High School, Manila, conducted bible studies in Brgy. Natatas.
From these groups arose the first batch of leaders mightily used by God in His vineyard.
The Prelude
JIL Tanauan is formerly one of the town outreaches of JIL-Batangas. Ptr. Addie Asi, a native of Batangas province was used by God to start off the spreading of His word here and to the neighboring towns as well. Evangelism work started sometime in September, 1987 in Brgy. Natatas, Tanauan, Batangas. Immediately thereafter, Sunday service was established. In May of the following year (1988), Sunday worship service was started at the town proper using the gym of Tanauan Institute (T.I.) as a place of worship with a very minimal love gift given to the school administration for the use of the school gym. During that time, weekly attendance averaged 60 persons.
The Expansion
After years of prayers, fasting, and evangelism activities of the leaders, workers and volunteers under the leadership of Ptr. Addie, weekly attendance had grown between 400 to 500. People keep on coming because they experience here the power of God. Since the place of worship that time can accommodate only around 300 plus per service, an evening service was established. The two Sunday services allow all family members not to miss the Sunday service since they can attend alternately with still some members of the family left at home manning the house.
The Birth of JILCS
March of 1996 was a milestone of the Jesus Is Lord Learning Center when its leadership finally decided to put up a branch school of Jesus Is Lord Colleges Foundation of Bunlo, Bocaue Bulacan after almost three years of fervent prayers. With barely 8 pupils, the school started its operations in a small sala of rented office at Sambat, Tanauan, Batangas. God's faithfulness is very evident each year as He continuously leads parents to entrust their children's education to the hands of JILCS Faculty.
As the enrolment increases, God patiently sends committed and willing missionary teachers to work for the school. In line with the development undergone by the school through the years, its name also changed from JIL Learning Center to JIL Christian School. Moving forward and seeing much bigger vision, we decided to open its High School department.
The Transition
A great transition happened at the JIL Church when it was transferred to its new location in the year 2000. From then on, the church and school have been occupying an abandoned hospital strategically located at the town proper. Some portions of our lot are being owned by the JIL Church through monthly amortization while the rest is still being rented every month. To date, there are already 3 Sunday worship services (2 services in the morning and 1 service evening), 6 extension services, and 1 youth service every Sunday plus 77 cell groups in this chapter alone. On the other hand, the JILCS has a total population of 635 on its 12th year of operation.
